History was made on Wednesday (February 20) as cricket's biggest names were auctioned today at Hilton Towers, Mumbai. A total of 79 players both Indian and international went under the hammer for the multi-million dollar Indian Premier League.
Team IPL MOHALI was also a part of the big IPL Championship.
Owner: This team was purchased by Bollywood actress Preity Zinta along with beau Ness Wadia, Karan Paul and Mohit Burman for US$ 76million (Rs 304 crore). The owner of the team is the Bombay Dyeing Co. Ltd.. The Mohali team players were brought at a total amount of US$ 5,683,750 (Rs 22.74cr)
About Owner: Priety Zinta is one of Bollywood's reputed actresses and has given her fans across the globe numerous blockbusters. While, her beau Ness Wadia is the heir of the Bombay Dyeing Co. Ltd. -- a company who are into the business of textiles. Karan Paul, is the Chairman of Apeejay Surrendra Group, while, Mohit Burman belong to the Dabur Group.
Players: Mohali team has strong players like Yuraj Singh -- who holds the record of scoring 6 sixes in an over in a T20 match. They also have the likes of Brett Lee who is considered as one of the lethal bowlers in the international circuit. The ranks of Irfan Patha, Mahela Jayawardena and Kumar Sangakkara are also a part of the team.
