History was made on Wednesday (February 20) as cricket's biggest names were auctioned today at Hilton Towers, Mumbai. A total of 79 players both Indian and international went under the hammer for the multi-million dollar Indian Premier League. One of the eight teams which feature in this extravagent form of the game is DELHI DARE DEVILS.
Owner: The team is owned by the GMR Holdings. They brought the team for an amount of US$ 84 million (Rs 336 crore). An amount of US$ 5,572,500 was spent to buy players for the team from the auction held on February 20, 2008.
About owner: GMR Group is one of India's fast growing private companies with interest in Infrastructure and Agri-Business. The company is named after its Chairman -- GM Rao.
Players: With Delhi's very own Virender Sehwag the captain of the team, Delhi Dare Devils have players like Gautam Ghambir, Shoaib Malik, pacer Mohammad Asif and veteran bowler Genn McGrath.
