A part of the IPL extravagenza was also the Badshah of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan's team IPL KOLKATA.

Owner:

The auction of the teams was held on January 24, 2008, where SRK's team Kolkata was purchased at one of the lowest bids. The players for team Kolkata were purchased for a total of US$ 6,022,500 (Rs 24.09cr)

About Owner: Red Chillies Entertainment is the production house owned by Shahrukh Khan and wife Gauri Khan. The production house was started by SRK, Juhi Chawla and Aziz Mirza under the banner of Dreamz Unlimited. However, the movies that were churned out of the house initially did not do too well at the box office. In 2005, the production company release Main Hoon Na which was a box office hit. SRK's love for cricket is well known to one and all, especially after his presence at the T20 world cup finals. Though he brought the team for a reasonably low price, he has managed to bag himself one of the strongest teams in the IPL lineup.

Players: Veteran cricketer Sourav Ganguly is the team's icon player and is also set to lead the team as their skipper. The team has a perfect blend of best of the batsmen, bowlers, fielders and all-rounders. SRK has in his team the Aussie skipper Ponting, the youngster Ishant Sharma and also the likes of Shoaib Akhtar and Chris Gayle.
